1973 Lamborghini Espada
Panel Repairs and Respray
This car came in requiring a few minor rust repairs and the repaint of a discoloration on the roof. (A car on a hoist above had leaked some coolant – or similar – under previous ownership.) The current owner had been reluctant to repaint completely because it was thought most of the existing paint was original but it was discovered it had been resprayed and the colour was not exactly correct. Upon discovering this, it was decided the best, and most cost-effective solution, after the rust repairs fixed, was to do a sympathetic respray of the whole car.
Background Information from the Owner
The Bertone designed Lamborghini Espada isn’t beautiful, but it is a very unique and striking car. It was a brilliant design – a sporting GT car on the outside, yet a sedan on the inside! This Lamborghini Espada is a real time capsule. It is a very original and unmolested example that has travelled only 18,457 miles from new. The body and paint were in exceptional condition for the age of the car, though there were a few small rust spots coming through. Rather than have a few spot repairs carried out, the owner made the decision to have all the required body panels repaired and the car fully repainted in its original colour of ‘verde metallic’.
